League Office City Charter Update Study Unit. The LWVF is now forming a City Charter study unit. Several members have expressed an interest in pursuing this update study, and it is a top priority for the LWVF this year. Please call Bette Noblett if you want to be included in this study unit. The initial meeting will be in May.

The study will begin with a review the Fresno League's Position on the Charter, which can be found on page 5 of the Green 2004-05 Roster. The Position was first adopted in 1970 and last amended in 1994. This is a timely study because the question has been raised recently by at least one Council member whether to follow a Charter amendment that calls for the Council to add two members when the city's population reaches 540,000. ~
