League of Women Voters Fresno Local History

Local History of the League

Twenty-six members of the League of Women Voters of Fresno (LWVF) adopted bylaws in 1941. Since its inception the LWVF has been a nonpartisan source of voter education, providing information for voters as well as a forum for all political candidates who wish to speak to the community. The local program has consistently emphasized education and governmental organization and finance. There is a continuing focus on housing, land use, air pollution, water and waste management, and social policy issues.
