Update on Transportation Issues

The organizations listed below have come together in a coalition to work for an extension of the local transportation sales tax that would provide transportation services in Fresno County to benefit all Fresno County citizens and help improve air quality in the San Joaquin Valley.

The Coalition (CLFC) supports guaranteed funding for:

• Public Transportation
• Paratransit
• Farm labor transportation
• Bicycle and pedestrian lanes and trails
• ADA requirements
• Sidewalks and pedestrian safety
• Repair and maintenance of existing streets, roads and
  highways
• Emphasis on improvement of existing neighborhood
  infrastructure
• Incentive funding for transit oriented neighborhood
  design
• Rail consolidation

CLFC is insisting on a democratic process in which all transportation interests, business, labor, health, social justice, and civic organizations come together to develop a tax proposal that Fresno County voters can support.

CLFC is also supporting:

• a responsible and accountable administrative authority for the tax,
• a transparent administrative process, which is accessible to the public,
• citizen oversight of the administrative process, and
• a twenty-year extension of the sales tax to more closely coincide with Fresno area general plans
